Take Your Dreams Seriously

When you were six years old, what did you want to be?

Astronaut?

Ballerina?

Farmer?

I’m guessing you probably didn’t say…

Accountant.

Lawyer.

Middle Management.

Not that these are bad ways to spend your life. It’s just that, at some point, it becomes unacceptable to say the things we used to want to be.

Society has tricked you into thinking it’s not okay, that you can’t actually be serious.

Friends, when I was younger, I wanted to be an adventurer.

Today, I still do.

But a maths degree and a stack of qualifications is pulling me back. Back towards the ‘proper job’ so that I don’t ‘waste my degree’…

Someone shared this video with me today. I’d like to share it with you.

It’s about all of this, and some more besides.
